Light vs Dark

I had this convo with a colleague:

The question concerning the light and what it is. I swear by the powers that be I see light in darkness with out darkness what purpose would the light have but to love or understand unselfishly, purposely. To look within me is to understand that darkness exists and its so beautiful. Its the stage for all colors, and all beautiful lights to grow and evolve. I am that I am, I’m what light is I am what darkness always was.

I think that we all have light and that its still like the darkness in us all. I just dont understand that why is all people drawn to the light. Why is it the light so beautiful to all and yet darkness is feared for out of darkness came so much beautiful light, and lights and wonderous things okay enough of me talking. And no I’m not Aetheist.

My Response:

Interesting perspective I enjoyed the read. I challenge all to look at darkness not as an absence of light but look at darkness as space – literally.

Light equals information, and darkness simply means space. (black shirts on fat women makes their “space” look smaller). The less information you have the more space you have and vice versa. This is why light carries information to our eyes via lighted sources: tv’s, stars, monitors, sun etc… no light source no information.

We tend to make things soooo abstract and over complicated when they are very simple and apparent. When we find/see our inner light – we have more/new information to use in moving forward. When we are in the “dark”, there is an absence of information or loss of direction. I don’t see ANY beauty in that – you cannot flippin see physically or third-eye wise! Darkness/space is infinite and has no true orientation, light HAS to have a point of origin or beginning source. It also provides us with spatial reasoning – take that away and we become physical and mental albinos with primal tendencies – no more reasoning makes us animalistic.

To prove my point, I could drive you medically insane in under 80 hours by placing you in a zero gravity room with absolutely no lights or reference of time. The “darkness” or feeling of infinite space coupled with no light, weightlessness, and no reference to time would drive you into sensory overload and your sanity would be compromised. Sure that’s a physical imposition but it does transcend into your mental perspective – after all, mind over matter.

Think about it, when you close your eyes “darkness” prevails thus the emulation of “space”. This is why we can have dreams that allow us to defy the laws of physics.

I am curious how you think light came from darkness. Who says everything was dark first? Maybe all was light/information filled and THEN things became dark. Perhaps the darkness grows in us as we regress and destroy each other. This is more rhetorical as this is the start of the endless “chicken or the egg” convo.

So again well stated idea Yefah, but my opposition stands – I think there is NO beauty in space only the light emitted from it, and I think light came first. :)
