Indeed, a very symbolic statement, while trivial on the one hand by those unfamiliar with the contempt behind the Islamic gesture. Knowing he had nowhere to hide and was, at a minimum, facing a prison sentence, you have to wonder the depth of such anger. Disgust, no doubt, shared by so many more around the world.
