Here is another cute fact: As of 2008, the total number of homeless in America was 759,101, so that means there are 24 empty houses for every homeless person in America!!!
What a shocking misallocation of resources, materials and energy. Disappointment is not even the beginning of how I feel toward this countries perspective.
It's deplorable!!! It would seem we would have so much more of which to be proud if we helped families / individuals find a home, take pride in owning property and to know it is theirs; and to teach them what is needed to stabilize their family. I cannot even fathom the statistic of 1.3M homeless children in a nation of such wealth.
ReplyDeleteHow can it be good from any perspective -- economic, environmental, health and caring for mankind -- to allow homes to be empty and people to remain homeless. It serves no purpose and speaks volumes the lack of focus, values and planning for our countries' future. There is such a dichotomy in the mindset of those with means, those with political clout and the decision making resources necessary to begin a paradigm shift in righting this shipwreck.
