It's not REALlity!!

Personally, I think its all crap. Of course I am being facetious, but my point is that now all of the sudden 1 and 1000 children are on the autism spectrum. Hell I was born in the 80's - so "us" compared the children born now in the 2000's has me perplexed. So in 30 years everyone is born with a defective brain!?

For me this is more the placebo effect and conscious reality. The more people that believe in a certain concept the more its relevance plays into our physical reality. Like the concept of flying an airplane. At one point the idea was totally absurd, but since enough of us consciously believe in the concept, we can now assign rules and mathematics to govern is execution in the physical world. But none of it is actually real.

There was a VERY interesting study performed on people that complained that their cell phones made them have headaches. So doctors took a group of people and had them hold a cell phone to their ear as they would if they were using it for "x" duration. None of the cell phones where real - they were a plastic housing with rubber inside. Yet ALL of the people complained of headaches. Then the doctor told them the next group of phones were shielded and told them to hold to their head as if using. Only 8% of the group still complained of headaches and guess what - they were the same fake phones!! I bring this up to say that if we keep playing into games and making up reasons, there will always be an excuse to make it a medical condition.

Its like as long as we continue to look for smaller particles we will always find them infinitely - so long as we make excuses for said behaviors and correlate them to a mental issue and then tie that into a synthesized solution (drug) there will always be "something" . So in another 30 years what will it be?

At what point will we stop making biological excuses, blaming natures perfect machine, shunning "abnormalities" and take cognitive responsibly for our behavior?! So bad parenting equals a mental disorder - great! Autism - eh I think its fake...

  1. DImitri,

While I do agree with the base of your post, I can't agree that I think autism is fake. Sure there are quite a few doctors who will diagnose a child with autism, when in fact it can be bad parenting or a completely different medical problem. But autism is very real. I was a great parent until I had a child. And then I quickly learned that being an effective parent is much harder than it seems. Anyone can feed and shelter and clothe a child, but actually parenting a child to become a responsible, productive adult takes time and effort. It comes by trial and error. It will be interesting to see you parent a child. I wonder how many of your views will change once that actually happens.

  2. For the "so and so's", environment/stability plays a role, and the child's activities play a role, too.

  3. @ Satch, I agree and am sure with certainty that many of my views will change however, I just don't feel Autism is real. I think its an excuse

@ Taj, So sad that parents play just as hard as the kids do in the game. I think a good 'ol ass whoopin or hard labor is always in order!!

@ Vic, Ultimately I agree, I feel systemically the biggest chunk of responsibility is on the parents to stop buying into the medical bullshit and for the medical field to stop enabling "medical" excuses.

So, what do you think?
